In chapter2,we saw that the main components of a computer system are input, output, storage, and CPU. We also saw that storage units are of two those types- primary and secondry. weith this knowledge, we are now ready to learn more about the internal structure and functioning of various components of a computer system. This and the next two chapters are devoted to the learning of the components of a computer. In this chapter, you will learn memory or simply memory). Subsequently, Characters 8 and 9 present the structure and functioning of secondary storage device and input/output devices, respectively.

Computers require input hardware, processing hardware and output hardware. The hardware that defines a computer is the CPU and memory. Without these a computer could not function.
